Watch how you treat people, but especially special needs people, cause you might end up being the one who looks retarded. (Not to mention, you might get your clock cleaned by her big sister)

So today at 5:45am I boarded a bus to Toronto to get passports for myself and Jacob. My first thought at 5am when my alarm went off was "Who the hell suggested I go to the office instead of mailing this crap?? Oh yeah...MOM!" I let that early because the next bus wasn't until 10:30 and I knew that by then the line would be so long I'd want to jab myself in the eye with something sharp before long.
Toronto scares me. I mean, SCARES me. Surprisingly I did not get lost, the directions mapquest gave me were perfect. I walked from the Bay St bus station to the Passport office on Victoria Street, only had to ask someone once where Victoria St was because there was no sign indicating what street I was standing in front of. And it only took 10 minutes to get there
As I felt my hand go numb from holding on super tight to my purse, I noticed so many things that I don't usually get to see. Most of the people walking were regular people, if you smiled at them (and I smile at EVERYONE, they must have thought I was an outpatient at a mental institution) they will smile back. The difference between a fake smile and a real smile is such a shock.
Manners have become something from the past? It's amazing how many people gave me a real smile after hearing me say please or thank you. Why have those 2 sayings become something we ignore? Why? No wonder our kids turn out the way they do if parents don't use their manners as a way to set an example.
the confusion I felt as I walked by homeless people sitting or sleeping on the sidewalks overwhelmed me. I honestly think the faces of the people I saw today will be burned into my memory forever. There was an older black man with his hat on the ground in front of him, he looked dirty and horrible, when he looked up at me as I walked by his eyes were dead. There was nothing there, but he continued to sing "wonderful world" like he wanted desperately to believe in the lyrics. There was a girl in a sleeping bag on the steps of a church, maybe in her mid twenties, food and drink containers all around her and a red backpack at her feet, back turned to the sidewalk and street. Another young girl, asleep with a cup of starbucks next to her, on the sidewalk of a major intersection, no sleeping bag, just the clothes on her back, laying there out cold with her hands behind her head... traffic buzzing past and she was sleeping...or meditating...or something with her eyes closed. An old lady walked into the bathroom in the passport building with jeans and a sweater on, with a shoulder bag and toothbrush in hand, when she came out 10 minutes later she was wearing a really pretty pink dress, heels and her hair kicked ass! She might not have been homeless, but the transformation blew me away. The lady standing in front of me in the super huge line asked me if I was having a good morning and if I had a boyfriend. She was nice, with thick back curly hair threaded with grey. I wanted her hair SO bad. I was sad when she was instructed to go to the proper line for immigration paperwork. I lost my line friend. The government employee keeping order to the line looked like a bird, thin and angry, and kept demanding we stay in one perfectly straight line over and over and over. I wanted to ask her to shut up.
I could go on and on about the people. I need to spend more time watching people. The best part was I got to see the old black man again on my way back to the bus station, he smiled a mouth full of bright white teeth at me and I gave him some change, not knowing if I should or not. He had a wonderful voice. The girl on the sidewalk was sleeping on her side, coffee knocked over and slowly spilling out onto the pavement when I saw her again. And by the church there were 2 men, praying very quietly. Not something anyone would notice unless you are spiritual in *any* way.
In all, I was back home by 11:30. The line moved very quickly and I should have our passports within 10 days instead of 10 weeks.
Try it on your next day off. Go for a walk and notice the little things. Smile at someone. Say hello, please and thank you.

I just spent the last half hour locking my cat in the bathroom and seperating him from his friend he brought home. A very scared little chipmunk.
Rachel and I realized...there are spots of the apartment that really need to be tidied up...when a chipmunk can hide there.
We think it's gone. It ran by the balcony door several times and we've ran around hitting things and moving stuff and sticking the broomstick into little corners and it hasn't come out.
I let the cat out of the bathroom finally.
Let's hope I don't come home to a dead chipmunk on the floor.

Jacob has pink eye.
Oh joy. He can't go back to school till tomorrow (he was sent home yesterday at lunch), and he's been driving me batty! lol. This is why children go to school...to learn...and use up some of the energy they seem to have stored up.
Jacob is now outside playing with a couple kids from the building with strict instructions not to touch any of them. haha.
The sun is so nice today. I spent an hour sitting out on the balcony with a book and I'm pink. I can't wait to go shopping with Rachel to buy some pretty summer clothes.
I've been slowly adding more to the story I'm writing. 40 pages so far. I keep going back to the beginning to read sections and my fingers twitch to start editing things, fleshing things out, but I know I have to wait, or I won't get the thing finished. And my goal (hahahahaha) is to have it finished before I turn 30. That scares me.
Jason gave me *some* of the money from the GST. Now I have to give the xbox back.
Work is crazy busy....CRAZY busy. Not enough time to get things done that I need to get done.
Nothing beats sitting in the sun with a cold drink and listening to the voices of kids playing. I remember being that age and not wanting to come inside when the sun started going down. Spring is here.
Life is good.

New tv show called Drive. Rachel and I watched the 2 hour premiere lastnight. I'm done. Hooked. Can't wait for next friday. A bunch of random people are given cellphones with instructions to start driving and every so often the phone gives them a new hint as to where they are going. The prize at the end is 32 million dollars....and something else for Tully (one of the main characters). But don't be last, or you could be eliminated...or given a penalty...like a gun and a picture with not so specific instructions. So far, great plot, pretty good actors (something nice to look at for everyone, i promise) and if you don't have a social life like me...it's on friday! Next...Slither! Buy it at Rogers for only $7.99!

Another picture post... not so much birthday stuff because we did his celebration on the weekend. He got gifts and cake and we saw the new Ninja Turtle movie (awesome). But of course today he got cupcakes and 2 more gifts from myself and rachel (our roommate).
It's been 7 years. It seems like as Jacob gets older, time goes by faster. Summer is just around the corner and I swear that I am going to enjoy every possible minute of it this year!

My Personality
| | Neuroticism | | Extraversion | | Openness To Experience | | Agreeableness | | Conscientiousness | |
| You are sociable, outgoing, energetic, and lively. You prefer to be around people much of the time. You are generally calm and composed, reacting moderately well to situations that most people would describe as stressful. A desire for tradition does not prevent you from trying new things. Your thinking is neither simple nor complex. To others you appear to be a well-educated person but not an intellectual. You have some concern with others' needs, and are generally pleasant, sympathetic, and cooperative. You are reasonably reliable, organized, and self-controlled.

I have a cold. My head feels like it weighs 100 pounds and I can't breathe out of my nose.
BUT it was a beautiful day today. The sun was shining, snow was melting, it even got above 0 celcius. I spent most of the day out walking around. Finally got to the bank to have my name removed from the joint bank account, so it's just in Jasons name now. I don't have to worry about that anymore.
I swear I must have went to EVERY store looking for popsicle sticks. Jacob has to take the materials he needs to build a bridge to school tomorrow...and he chose to build a wooden bridge. I finally found them. Needless to say, his bridge is gonna look like it was build by a hippie that just left a hotboxed bathroom. Multi-colour.
My dad calls me today (apparently we had call waiting added to our phone and I didn't add it, Rachel didn't add it...*shrug*) and here I figured he actually called to maybe talk to me? But no. He wants to know if I can get him a discount on a Rogers cellphone since I'm an employee. I don't know why I continue to let myself be disappointed by a man that is pretty much a sperm donor. He thanked me for the pictures of Jacob I sent him, then started going on about this person he knows that has a young daughter and how they've adopted them and this little girl is like his granddaughter. HELLO? He has a grandchild, a blood grandchild that he never sees...but hey, he spends every saturday with his "adopted" granddaughter. Maybe I"m a little selfish? Maybe I'm expecting too much. But it hurts me that he can't even drive 15 minutes to spend a couple hours...hell, even 20 minutes with his ONLY grandchild. Jacob sees his picture and asks who that man is. Maybe it's a good thing, I don't really want Jacob to be lied to and disappointed the way I was with this man.
LOST tonight! *dance*

I know I have some talented friends...
I'm hoping someone can make me an icon.
Some kind of billboard sign that you'd see on the side of the road that says "God says 'Just Do It!' "
I don't expect it to make much sense...it's an inside joke with a friend....any takers?
